KE Lin柯麟
Born in 1900, Dr. Ke Lin is a revolutionist, medical expert and educationalist. He served as a volunteer doctor in Kiang Wu Hospital and volunteer teacher in Kiang Wu Nursing School in which he was also appointed as the school President in 1945. In 1946, Dr. Ke became the first Director of Kiang Wu Hospital. Since then, Dr. Ke had devoted himself to the Hospital work for more than three decades without receiving any payment. During the long years of voluntary service, Dr. Ke made immense contributions to the Hospital by actively improving the Hospital’s medical technology, fostering medical talents and strengthening the ward structure and equipment. Dr. Ke passed away in Beijing in 1991.

 

 

 

 

LI Tie李鐵
After graduation from Kiang Wu Nursing School in 1944, Ms. Li Tie served as a guerrilla for eight years to fight against the Japanese invaders. Upon the liberation of China, Ms. Li enrolled in medical studies at Shandong Medical University and Peking Medical University respectively. After that, she furthered her PhD study in the Soviet Union and obtained two PhD degrees there. Following the graduation, Ms. Li returned to China and worked in Shandong University and Jinan University. Ms. Li loves the motherland and her alma mater throughout her life. In the 1990s, Ms. Li returned to Kiang Wu Nursing School and initiated the in-service training programmes for practising nurses. The training programmes were very popular among the nurses, and since then, the practice for nurses to pursue in-service trainings and advanced studies has been encouraged. Ms. Li is now living in Guangzhou in good health. Until today, Ms. Li still keeps on writing and taking part in social activities.

 

TSANG Wan曾還
Ms. Tsang Wan is also an alumna graduated in 1944 and is the best friend of Ms. Li Tie. Same as Ms. Li, Ms. Tsang is patriotic to her motherland and alma mater. Following the graduation, she served as a guerrilla to fight against the Japanese invaders in company with Ms. Li. Ms. Tsang has been living in Guangzhou since the anti-Japanese war was ended.

 

 

 

 

LIN Liujian林柳堅
Ms. Lin Liujian originally served as a senior nursing officer in Guangzhou Rouji Hospital and was later invited to join Kiang Wu Nursing School by Dr. Ke Lin. Ms. Lin gave guidance to her students in the light of Florence Nightingale’s spirit of “illuminating others by kindling oneself”. Ms. Lin made herself the excellent role model for all nurses. In addition, she actively carried out significant reforms for nursing education and has laid a solid foundation for the nursing profession. Ms. Lin passed away in Hong Kong in 2005.

 


 

 

KWOK Shun Kin郭信堅
Dr. Kwok Shun Kin assumed the posts of Secretary-General of Kiang Wu Charitable Association and President of Kiang Wu Nursing School in 1954. Adhering to the reform policies set up by Dr. Ke Lin, Dr. Kwok diligently worked for the Hospital’s medical development. Moreover, under his leadership, the new school campus (Cheng-Kai Memorial Hall) was successfully established in 1956. During his term of office, Dr. Kwok made great contributions to Macao’s medical and nursing education.



 

 

IO Pat Iok饒不辱
Upon graduation in Zhongshan School of Medicine in Guangzhou in 1946, Dr. Io Pat Iok came to Macao and worked in Kiang Wu Hospital. He had spent more than four decades there ever since he first joined it. Dr. Io dedicated his entire life to Macao citizens’ medical and health care. His virtue of helping the patients was highly respected and commended by Macao citizens. Dr. Io took up the posts of Deputy Director of Kiang Wu Hospital and President of Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School in 1976, and received tremendous respect and admiration from students. Dr. Io passed away in Macao in 2010.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LEONG Sao Chan梁秀珍
President Leong Sao Chan is a graduate of 1943 and has served the Kiang Wu Hospital (KWH) for more than half a century. In December 1983, President Leong was appointed as Secretary-General of Kiang Wu Charitable Association (KWCA) by Dr. Ke Lin. In 1988, she also assumed the posts of Director of KWH and President of Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School. Under the leadership of the Board of Directors of KWCA headed by President Ma Man Kei, President Leong played an active role in strengthening the management of the Hospital and boosting its development. During her term of office, considerable development and advancement were achieved in the work of both KWCA and KWH. In addition, since the 1980s, President Leong has spared no efforts in nurturing medical talents for Macao. She consistently fosters the younger generation, and strongly encourages and supports the young students to step outside Macao and absorb the advanced medical and nursing knowledge from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and overseas countries. Owing to President Leong’s long years of painstaking efforts and remarkable contributions, a concrete foundation for the future development of Macao’s medical and nursing profession and education has been built, and an improvement of Macao’s medical services has been achieved. Even after retirement, President Leong still attaches herself to the Hospital and the School and often concerns herself about their development. In addition, after her retirement, President Leong once served as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference dedicating herself to the betterment of the country. President Leong is now living in Macao.

 

 

 

 

 

CHAU Kam Leng周金陵
President Chau Kam Leng graduated at our School in 1947 and had dedicated herself to the medical and nursing profession for more than six decades. She was a firm patriot and was passionate in participating in social activities. President Chau also served as a committee member of Guangdong’s Political Consultative Conference. During the anti-Japanese war, she put in great efforts in taking care of the wounded. In June 1988, President Chau took office as our full-time school President and was awarded the Medal of Professional Merit by the Governor of Macao in 1993. She was later recruited as our Consultant after the School was officially renamed as Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau in 1999. For decades, President Chau’s tireless efforts had never ended and she had devoted her whole life to Macao’s medical and nursing professions, education and the society at large. President Chau’s contributions to the School were particularly invaluable. She tried her best to advance the School with the times and led the teaching team to go against all challenges and difficulties. Under her visionary leadership, the School was successfully promoted to a higher education institution. In addition to the above, President Chau contributed significantly to the upgrading of the qualifications of nurses in Macao, promoted continuing education, and universalised nursing and elderly care trainings. President Chau passed away in Macao in 2007.

 

 

 

 

LEUNG Pui Chun梁佩真
Ms. Leung Pui Chun is an alumna graduated in 1951. Ms. Leung is an active patriot and is now living in Beijing. In July 1951, Ms. Leung received a request about leaving Macao and taking a new task in the Chinese Mainland. At that time, since the situation in the Chinese Mainland was still chaotic, she was not allowed to notify her mother even when she was leaving Macao. It has already been decades since the time she first left Macao, and she met her mother again only after 25 years. Ms. Leung once served as the nurse of Marshal Ye Jianying and the Imperial Uncle of the last reign of Qing Dynasty – Pujie. She also once took care of the medical and health care of the members of the Drafting Committee for the Basic Law of HKSAR. Ms. Leung constantly emphasizes that Macao is the starting point of her life, while Kiang Wu Nursing School is the place of enlightenment where she has gradually developed and formed her revolutionary ideas. Ms. Leung is one of the most outstanding alumni of our School. She sacrifices herself for the development of the motherland, dedicates her entire life to the nursing profession and is highly committed to helping the patients. Ms. Leung is truly a role model for all nurses.



 

 

LAM Keng Fong林瓊芳
Ms. Lam Keng Fong is an alumna graduated in 1947. She is a persevering and tough female who continuously strives for improvement. After graduation, Ms. Lam worked in Kiang Wu Hospital and performed her work excellently. Ms. Lam demonstrates great passion for the country and displays the spirit of sacrifice and struggle. In the beginning of 1951, Ms. Lam accompanied Dr. Ke Lin to Guangzhou and engaged herself in the pioneering work of constructing the New China. Later on, Ms. Lam started her study in the Public Health Department of Tongji Medical College (now known as Huazhong University of Science and Technology) in 1953. Ms. Lam later went to Belgium to further her public health studies in 1982. After obtaining a Master’s degree, she returned to China and served in the education industry, and was recognized as China’s first group of professionals in medical statistics. After retirement, Ms. Lam returned to Macao and worked for Kiang Wu Hospital again in 1991. Later on, she also worked for Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School and assisted the alma mater in fostering the younger generation. Ms. Lam is now living in Wuhan.

The above is also a group of outstanding alumni that all of them have made remarkable achievements and contributions to the development of the medical and nursing profession of the motherland or Macao. They are now living in Macao and Hong Kong respectively.
