Led by Hong Te-jen, President of the Pei-tou Culture Foundation in Taiwan, a delegation of 12 visited our college on 19 of December, aiming at developing a deeper understanding of the health promotion, medical service and hospice care of the ageing population in Macau. Vice-President Xing Zhihong started the symposium by giving the guests a warm welcome. Then she introduced the overview of the College and pinpointed the Problem Solving for Better Health (PSBH) Programme. Students participated in this Programme would be divided into groups, working together in the custom design of plans addressing health issues of different people in Macau communities. The Programme has, so far, recorded a completion of more than one hundred projects, which helped more than a thousand of the care receivers. After that, the symposium continued with the introduction, delivered by Associate Professor Zeng Wen, about the daily work of Nursing & Health Education Research Centre, the research and teaching of elderly health and the dementia cases in Macau. The Taiwan delegation was also passionate in sharing their experience and knowledge with us. Director Hong Te-jen introduced to us the business and development goal of Pei-tou Culture Foundation. He represented that members from the foundation devoted themselves to the community work, which included: building a healthy and elder-friendly community, providing thoughtful service for the elderly who live alone, as well asproviding health promotion courses for the local community and other services, so old citizens can have the care they need. After the symposium, Associate Professor Hu Xiaoxia and Assistant Professor Chung Siu Fung took the group to the Kiang Wu Charitable Association Museum. The tour of this Museum on the history of over a hundred years development of the Association impressed them deeply.
