In an effort to collect nursing preceptors’ opinions on the clinical performance of Year 3 students as well as to exchange information with one another, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau gathered nursing preceptors of the local clinical placement institutions for a meeting on 17 April 2014 at the College.

In the meeting, representatives from relevant institutions mainly discussed the allocation of clinical placement hours and the work-related guidance given to students. Some representatives also showed concerns for students’ observation, problem-solving and communication abilities. It is hoped that students could give play to their own specialties in addition to acquiring nursing knowledge in the course of their clinical placement. For this reason, institution representatives encourage students to take the initiative to organize more activities and lectures, and through which build their team spirit and the virtue of sharing their knowledge with others, for these are the indispensable attributes of an outstanding nursing professional.

In the current academic year, there are a total of 12 local institutions offering clinical placement opportunities for our Year 3 students, including Hac Sa Wan Health Centre, Tap Seac Health Centre, Hoi Pong Health Centre, Taipa Health Centre, Fong Son Tong Health Centre, Fai Chi Kei Health Centre, Hoi Pong Health Centre, I Chon Centre, Longevity Special Day Care Centre, Meng Fai Nursing Home, Our Lady of Mercy Home for the Elderly and Obra das Mães Nursing Home for the Elderly. A number of representatives of these institutions attended the meeting.
