School of Nursing of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Visits KWNC
for Experience Sharing

Led by its Principal Dr. Sharron Leung, a delegation of more than 50 students of the “Diploma in General Nursing (Enrolled Nurse) Programme” and teachers of the School of Nursing of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (HKBH) paid a visit to Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) on 14 February 2014. By organizing the visit, the School would like to promote the exchanges with KWNC’s teachers and students, learn more about Macao’s nursing education and development trend, as well as to broaden its students’ horizons. The delegation was received by a number of KWNC members including Professor Van Iat Kio, College President, Lecturer Lau Gar Bo, Executive Officer of Extra-Mural Studies Department, Assistant Professor Ng Wai I, Programme Leader of Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme, Ms. Cheong Hoi Ieng, Deputy Executive Officer of President’s Office, and over 10 KWNC students.

To deepen the understanding and friendship between the two institutions, an exchange meeting was arranged. Deputy Executive Officer Ms. Cheong Hoi Ieng and Assistant Professor Ng Wai I gave a review of KWNC’s history, course of development and educational philosophy, and presented the curriculum design of the “Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme”. In addition, Ms. Lao Mei I, Chair of Board of Directors of Students’ Union shared with the guests her life as a student at KWNC. After that, student representatives of the School of Nursing of HKBH also gave an introduction of their school programme, students’ learning situation and school activities.

Following the exchange meeting, the delegation was given a campus tour by our students. The delegation visited the College’s facilities and showed special interest in the equipment and manikins of the simulated wards. During the tour, students of the two institutions introduced to one another their own schools’ training modes and exchanged their personal learning experiences.

After the visit at our College, the delegation went to Kiang Wu Hospital and received a warm welcome given by the Hospital’s Public Relations Department and Nursing Department.
