'Benevolence Lights up my Later Life' academic training group visits Taipei |

Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau sent a delegation to Taipei in academic training to learn about dementia care services on January 16 to 20, led by Associate Professor of KWNC Zeng Wen. Members of the delegation included Coordinator Ms. Lam Man Chi, Michi, Social Service Office, physiotherapist Wong Nga Lai, Centre I Chon, of the General Union of Neighbours Association of Macau, Nancy Lei, Annette Lau, lecturers and other technicians of KWNC, etc. The purpose of the trip was to observe the current situations in and functions of dementia care services in Taiwan and to learn their skills in these services. This academic visit to Taiwan was one of the projects of ‘Benevolence Lights up my Later Life' of KWNC to train academics on how to deal with the ageing population. The delegates visited respectively the care centre for the elderly with AD in Taipei , the Taiwan Catholic Foundation of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia (CFAD), Taipei Zhishan Care Centre for Elderly, Rezhi Interactive Family of the Taiwan Alzheimer's Disease Association (TADA) and Mackay Medicine, Nursing and Management College . Through this academic training in Taiwan, on the one hand , the cooperation between the two sides in dealing with dementia issues has been enhanced; on the other , a good foundation has been laid for the future to carry out the memory clinic in Macau , and for Macau 's welfare sector service agencies to promote establishment of services for elderly with dementia and dementia day service hotline centres. |
