In order to facilitate programme running to an international standard, to push forward the scheme of cross-institution academic collaboration and to broaden the vision of students, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau held a Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understand for Academic Cooperation between the College and the University of Edinburgh on Dec. 16 th , 2011 in the KWNC Lecture Theatre. The MOU was signed by the President of KWNC Prof. Florence Van and Dr. Graeme D. Smith, Director of department of global cooperation strategies, senior lecturer of School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh . Dr. Graeme Smith has been appointed Visiting Professor by KWNC as from this academic year. It is believed that with the MOU signing there will be much progress in mutual collaboration in the field of nursing, development of faculty and student exchange, teaching training, research and services etc. between the two institutions. Guests witnessed the MOU signing included Vice-Chairman of Board of Directors of KWNC Ung Hon Chao and Vong Kok Seng, Member of Board of Directors Chan Kam Meng, and Secretary-General of Kiang Wu Charitable Association O Chen, etc. In her address to the ceremony, President Van gave a briefing on the recent development of KWNC's programme running, including the BSN Programme open up for nearly ten years, the PDAN programme in collaboration with the Hospital Authority Hong Kong and the MNS programme jointly run with Sun Yat-sen University , which have also developed for two to four years. By carrying out the College goal to foster quality nursing talents for the society, there has been continuous enhancement of programme standard, academic level, quality of faculty members and a constant rise in student number. The University of Edinburgh is one of the most famous current higher education institutions in UK where nursing programmes have been provided for 50 years; teaching and research have achieved outstanding achievements. It is expected that the collaboration of the two institutions will give more study and exchange opportunities to drive mutual enhancement in professional and academic fields.
