KWNC Donation for Zhouqu Disaster Relief

 

A tremendous landslide and debris flow disaster out of a rainstorm occurred at midnight on Aug. 7 and 8 this year in Zhouqu County, Gannan Autonomy State in China has destroyed numerous families and brought about great number of homeless compatriots. By Sept. 4 the death toll reached 1,478 while missing was recorded 287.

In order to express the love and care and warmest wishes for the people of disaster area, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau immediately launched a fundraising campaign and collected an amount of MOP 20,000 among faculty, students and staff members. The fund was then submitted to Macau Red Cross on Sept. 17 by the College delegation including Asst. Prof. Amanda Leong, Lecturer Nancy Lei and four student representatives, which was received by Central Council members, Chief of Protocol Mr. Wong Cheng Hin and Deputy General Director Ms. Sung Man Chu. The fund would be send to Zhouqu disaster area to help emergency relief of the compatriots there.
