SUMC Delegation Made a Visit to KWNC

An 8-member delegation from Shantou University Medical College paid a visit to Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau in the morning of April 23, and was warmly received by the College President Florence Van, Asst. to President Cindy Xing and the Executive Officer of Extra-Mural Studies Department Stella Lei. Both parties had a good discussion over nursing education issues.

Mr. He Ping, Deputy Director of Educational Department of SUMC indicated that constant improvement had been given to the College undergraduate education in nursing. At present, with about eight to ten students admitted yearly to the College, the education policy is based on quality enhancement. SUMC has passed the rigorous clinical certification exam on medical education, providing a Clinical Skills Training Center for the practice of nurse students as well as plenty of exchange study opportunities overseas to broaden students’ vision. Director Ho particularly appreciated KWNC’s pedagogic philosophy of “From Personhood to Benevolence”, which aims to train nursing professionals of both good character and excellent competency, is right coincide with SUMC’s College mission "To Serve The World with Virtue, Skills and A Heart of Devotion".

Then an active exchange meeting was held between the two parties over the issues such as carrying out scientific research, qualification of nursing practitioners, career development of graduates and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau cooperation, etc. President Van expressed that this exchange could lay a foundation for further collaboration between the two institutions apart from sharing of both pedagogic experience.
