The 32nd PSBH Workshop (April 16 ~18)

The 32nd PSBH Workshop, jointly organized by Dreyfus Health Foundation (DHF), Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC), was successfully held between April 16th and 18th in the KWNC lecture theatre. The DHF China Office representative Ms. Tsai Shin Ling and professors from PUMC were invited as the workshop instructors.

PSBH Workshop, a regular KWNC academic event since 2003, has come to the sixth session this year participated by eight teachers and students from Hetao University of Inner Mongolia, in addition to the forty-one year-3 students from KWNC.

The follow-up reports, presented by the 30th workshop participants on the occasion of this year, were highly evaluated by the guest instructors who gave a comment of “Shock” on students’ works. Prof. Liang Tao from Nursing College of PUMC praised students for their team spirits being fully reflected in the course of preparation. The presentation was illustrated and well explained to give a distinct idea. Through health promotion activities, they were able to build up a positive image of nurses in social aspect, and also could solve some health-related problems practically. The major part is that their work could embody the philosophy of nurse cultivation: “From Personhood to Benevolence” to pass on their benevolent hearts to the society. Meanwhile she put forward some proposals for students such as digging up knowledge that teachers had imparted while making full use of them, e.g. interview skills and psychological knowledge etc. She suggested participants had better choose more challengeable topics next time to observe and handle more health -related problems in life.

In her comment, Assoc. Prof. Liu Jian Fen praised students for their serious studying attitudes in every step of preparation. She suggested students should consider over practicality in the use of tools and scales as well as their integrity. Finally she hoped the idea could be promoted further to the community to benefit more people.
To conclude the workshop, President Florence Van summed up three surprises, two thanks and one expectation to describe participants’ progress. She expected to see more pertinent health issues to put forward and more health promotion targets to set up as well as further advancement of all the participants to gain for the next year, so that PSBH project could keep going continuously.
