Study on the Needs of Macau’s North District Elder People
for Medical and Health Services

Commissioned by the Consultative Committee of Community Service, Macau SAR Government, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau has kicked off a project of “Study on the Needs of Macau’s North District Elder People for Medical and Health Services”. On March 16 the questionnaire survey launched officially. Investigators began to visit the social services for the elderly in north district and invited those elder people conforming to study requirements for an interview. Asst. Prof. Bill Zeng, Lecturer Nancy Lei and Clinical Instructor Lok Ka In are responsible for this project. The study population is entirely the Macau citizens at/above 65 years of age having been living in the north district over three months. Questionnaire survey is to be conducted by Stratified Proportional Random Sampling and Cluster Sampling methods.

Investigators of this study are BSN students from Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, who have been trained specifically by the in-charge teachers a few days ago learning relevant knowledge and skills needed for the survey to ensure good preparation for fulfillment of the investigation.

The finding of this study will provide for the MSAR government a strong foundation to work out strategies on the medical and nursing care services for the elderly in north district of Macau so that the future administration policies will meet more actual demands of the elderly and thus jointly build a harmonious society between young and old.
