A Visit of Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation to KWNC

Welcomed by President Florence Van, the representatives of Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation, Finance and Administration Manager Mr. Teng Man Seng and Project Manager Mr. Lam Hio Bo visited KWNC in the morning March 2. Other members of the College including Asst. Prof. Cindy Xing, Asso. Prof. Andrew Luk and Asso. Prof. Michelle Zhu, etc. were also present at this reception.

In a brief presentation of the College and her programme characteristics during a discussion, respectively by President Van and Assoc. Prof. Zhu, an emphasis was laid on the importance of students’ ideological cultivation and professional training under an educational notion of “From Personhood to Benevolence”. And then Asst. Prof. Xing and Assoc. Prof. Luk also presented the Nursing & Health Education Research Centre of KWNC in prospect, which aims to provide community service and health education while developing scientific researches and students training, so as to realize the goal of a combination of pedagogy-research-service for the good of public people.

Mr. Teng and Mr. Lam gave introduction to the status, objectives and facilities of DSHMDF. The Foundation was set up to upgrade the quality of medical service over Macau or other areas in China. It had been dedicated to many related beneficial affairs involving subsidizing medical workers and their training in the fields of skills, technology and personnel.

Then after a good discussion exploring further mutual cooperation, both parties agreed that the health education promotion to the general public means a lot as this could not only promote their health, but also save medical spending. Both sides had common awareness about the significance of the elderly health issues that will give a feasible direction for the collaboration of each other. In accompanying of President Van and other staff, the guests visited the College campus, having intensive understanding of all the facilities specially designed for nursing profession study. They showed great appreciation of the College concept of making the best uses of People and things, thus creating a good environment for students’ learning to get better performance and results. Finally the guests invited the College members to visit the Foundation site to understand deeply its operation.
