KWNC・s open day gained applause

Specially provided for this year・s secondary-school graduates, interested students and masses to have a thorough understanding of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, a public open day event was held on Jan. 30th and 31st 2010 in the College campus, which attracted hundreds of local residents to participate and got good response from them.

Visitors were given full opportunities to understand the College history, programmes and students・ life while they were visiting various facilities in the College premises including Laboratories, Lecture Theatres, Multifunction Hall, Classrooms, Library, etc. under the guide of nurse students. There were new elements added to the open day event, such as a number of presentations and games designed by every affiliated club of Students・ Union. Items of service like body measurement and operation demo, health consultation and service including body mass index (BMI) measurement, vision test and BMD measurement, demonstrations of health exercises, first aid, newborn care, prevention from AIDS and peer education, singing performance, etc. Besides, a seminar on elderly healthcare was organized for the relevant communities, hosted by the gerontological nursing specialist of the College. At the scene, there was also sweet soup made for entertaining the elder people.

During the two-day open event, the College arranged curriculum introduction session and information service to cope with the public・s inquiry about nursing profession and nursing programmes. The visitors felt all these contents shown in open days were abundant and interesting. They could come to know more about nursing programme and study life as well as the need for nursing workers to equip themselves with competence of educating the residents and critical thinking apart from a strong knowledge basis and skills. Through the visit they were also aware of some other rare experiences in talent training for a nurse student besides the professional learning, such as singing, languages, debates, etc.

New student recruitment for the BSN programme of the new academic year will begin from March 1st to 20th while that for the PDAN programme will be from Feb. 1st to 28th.
