Generally speaking, the wage level of women with lower income goes too slow to catch the rapid development of Macau’s whole economy. They think little of their health; take less regular body check-up than the middle-class female. With a stronger family value in comparison with those in neighboring areas, they would rather stay home being housewives after marriage, thus always suffering from emotional disturbance. The interviewees showed their needs for elderly-care, counseling and nursery services, yet these mental health services in the community are lack in supply at present.
Besides, Dr. Lam also put forward the problem concerning the moving up of Macau Women’s childbearing age. Since the shortage of medical staff in gynaecological and obstetrical department becomes more and more crucial, we have to face up to the issue whether the related medical resources for the elder parturient women are sufficient or not. In conclusion, the finding disclosed the serious insufficiency in Macau’s caring service, mental consultancy and nursery services had influence on female’s health to a certain extent. Through the talk, the participants realized that they should give more concerns and put emphasis on women’s health problem in future, especially those elder pregnant women and housewives. Questions were raised by many students following the talk arousing warm and active atmosphere. |
