KWNC Graduation Ceremony 2008/2009 

The Graduation Ceremony of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau for the 2008/2009 academic year was held at 2:30 P.m. on Sept. 26th at the auditorium of Kiang Wu Hospital. Forty-five Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates and twenty-four Bachelor of Science In Nursing (Supplementary) graduates successfully completed their tertiary education in nursing profession and were conferred certificates of Bachelor’s degrees. The officiating guests of honor included Macao SAR Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Director of Secretary’s Office for Social Affairs and Culture Tam Chun Veng, Director of Culture and Education Department of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR Liu Xiao Hang, Deputy Director of Tertiary Education Services Office Kok Sio Lai, Director of Health Bureau Lei Chin Iun, President of Administration Council of Macao Foundation Victor Ng, ICN Nurse Consultant Paddie Blaney, Vice-President of HK Polytechnic University Thomas K.S. Wong, Academic Administration Officer of Peking Union Medical College Guan Yuanzhi, KWNC Board of Directors Honorary Vice-Chairman Hoi Sai Un, Chairman Ma Iao Lai and Vice-Chairman Ho Va Tim, Wu Shun Him, Director of Kiang Wu Hospital Zhang Xuming and KWNC President Van Iat Kio, etc. The ceremony was attended by about six hundred VIP guests, graduates’ families and relatives and the College alumni.

Executive Officer Edmund Ho praised KWNC in his address for her inheriting and developing the long history of the Kiang Wu Nursing and Midwifery School to cultivate nursing talents for the cause of health in Macau for years and years. Nowadays in the modernized society, the nursing staff who had been sparing no efforts to undertake various medical work under high pressure and devoting themselves to patient care were most admirable. The Macau SAR had faced the challenges of Avian Flu, SARS and A/HINI Flu in sequence these years, therefore we should not neglect any of our nursing work that means a lot to infection control and prevention, said he. The government would keep strengthening and supporting the relevant training and mechanism in nursing so as to enhance the nursing skills for epidemic diseases.

Chairman Ma Iao Lai, President Van Iat Kio and ICN Nurse Consultant Paddie Blaney respectively addressed the Ceremony. Chairman Ma officiated presentation of Bachelor’s Degrees and Certificates to all BSN and BSNS graduates. Two graduate representatives delivered together a vote of thanks to the teachers for their instruction and to the parents for their support over the four years. Then it came the sections of Letter Exchange between Guangzhou Medical College and KWNC and the presentation of award certificates by scholarship sponsors. The Ceremony was brought to a successful close in fully warm and touching atmosphere by the singing of the College anthem.
